Education Scholarship

Purpose

Since 2006, AIEF has supplied financial support to aspiring and current information management professionals pursuing an associate, bachelor, graduate, or post-graduate degree in information management.

AIEF defines information management as including the responsibility for setting up and implementing policies, systems, and procedures to capture, create, access, distribute, use, store, secure, retrieve, and ensure disposition of an organization’s records and information assets. Information management is an essential part for information governance, which holds organizations and individuals accountable for the proper handling of information assets. Information management enables awareness to both business and technology changes enabling any organization to respond, with confidence, to changing needs.

Eligibility

  1. Be an ARMA International Professional or Student member;
  2. Be a student currently enrolled in an accredited educational program pursuing an associate, bachelor, or graduate/professional degree with the intent of becoming an information management professional,
  3. Have completed at least one semester/term of coursework toward your degree,
  4. Have a “C” average or higher in your current degree program (or Pass if Pass/Fail), and
  5. Have not received an AIEF-funded award over $500 in the last 5 years.

Students from all countries and of all nationalities are encouraged to apply.

Sponsor and Funding

This award is made possible through the generous support of AIEF donors. Funding is determined on an annual basis. AIEF reserves the right not to offer grants unless funding is available. AIEF encourages endowed scholarships supported by gifts from individuals and organizations. Potential donors are invited to contact us for more information.

Selection Committee

All applications submitted for AIEF scholarship or reimbursement programs are reviewed and evaluated by the AIEF Scholarship Committee. Each application is assessed based on its completeness and the quality of the required components. If, in the judgment of the committee, no applications in a given year meet the established standards of excellence, AIEF reserves the right not to grant any awards for that cycle.

Scholarship Award

AIEF scholarship award amounts may vary based on demonstrated financial need and applicable exchange rate fluctuations. Awards will generally range from $1,500 to $2,000 for graduate and post-graduate students, and $1,000 to $1,200 for associate and bachelor degree students.

Payment

AIEF will make payment directly to the award recipient soon after all applicants have been notified of the committee’s decisions. All payments will be made in US dollars by e-check or wire transfer.

Application Deadline and Requirements

Applicant criteria:

  • Be a current ARMA International Professional or Student Member;
  • Does not currently serve as an AIEF Trustee or ARMA International Board Member;
  • Has not received an AIEF-funded award over $500 in the past 5 years;
  • Be willing to share their experience through an ARMA article, interview, or similar platform; and
  • Submit a complete application and all supporting documents as outlined below.

Application packets must include:

  • Proof of current ARMA membership (Professional or Student);
  • A current educational transcript.
  • A current resume.
  • A statement of financial need (maximum 350 words), including a financial or tuition statement from the university that include course cost;
  • A personal statement (between 250-350 words), briefly discuss your interest in information management and how this award will enhance your ability to contribute to the field.

AIEF Awards Application Timeline

All AIEF Scholarships and Awards follow the annual schedule outlined below:

January 1 – March 31: Application period for all scholarships and awards.

April – May: Review and selection process.

June: Award notifications and public announcements.

Reimbursement dates will be based on the award received.

Please ensure all application materials are submitted by March 31 to be considered. Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
