Lynette Michelle Allen

Born April 21, 1960 – Died September 2, 2011

Lynette Michelle Allen was born on April 21, 1960 and passed away on September 2, 2011.  Lynette was born in Paris, France, where she lived for her first six years.  The Allen family moved to Los Angeles in 1966, and following her graduation from Jefferson High School, she attended California State University, Long Beach, where she earned a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration degree.

For the last 25 years, Lynette enjoyed a career as a Records Manager, working for several Los Angeles law firms, a real estate management company, and her last employer Mattel Inc. under the auspices of Sharon Hyder and Associates.  She was an active member and served in various roles over the last 22 years within the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of ARMA, most recently as Chapter Historian.  She was Chapter President in 1996-1997, when the chapter was recognized by ARMA International as Large Chapter of the Year. Lynette was recognized by GLA two years ago with Honorary Chapter Membership.

To Lynette, Records Management was not just a job, it was a career, a profession, an avocation, a passion.  She served as a role model and mentor for countless chapter officers and members. The one word that best describes Lynette to her many colleagues, friends and family is GIVING. The loss of Lynette Allen will leave a void hard to fill within GLA, the Pacific Region and the ARMA community.

Mattel Inc. co-worker Janet Hodges commented,  “Even though Lynette’s physical heart was weak, her spiritual heart was strong and made of gold.  She was always looking out for the less fortunate and encouraging the department to donate to causes such as breast cancer, Toys for Tots, etc.  In fact, one of the last emails I received from her was a reminder to donate money to purchase backpacks and school supplies for an inner-city school for disadvantaged kids.  That was Lynette… always thinking of others before herself.”

Friends of Lynette are encouraged to contact the Foundation with additional remembrances.
